How to goal set, to actually reach your goals

If you struggle to set goals and follow through, or if you want a more effective approach to achieving what you set out to do, here’s a simple guide with actionable tips we use at Me Time to stay on track:

Step 1: Get Specific and Write Down Your Goal

Start by clearly defining your goal and writing it down. Instead of vague goals like "read more," make it specific: "I want to read 30 books this year." This sets a clear, achievable target.

Step 2: Break Down Your Goal into Daily Steps

Large goals can feel overwhelming, so break them down into manageable daily actions. For instance, if you want to read 30 books with an average of 400 pages each, that’s 12,000 pages in a year. Divide 12,000 by 365 days, and you get roughly 33 pages a day. Now you know exactly what to do each day to reach your goal.

Step 3: Make it Enjoyable and Set a Routine

Set aside a specific time each day to work on your goal and add reminders to your phone. Then, create a ritual that makes the experience something you’ll look forward to. Maybe you cozy up on the couch with a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate while reading. The more you enjoy the process, the easier it’ll be to stick with it.

Step 4: Track Your Progress

Keep track of your progress, whether through an app, a Google Doc, or even a notebook. If you miss a day, jot down the reason. This way, you can look back at the end of each month and spot any recurring issues. For example, if you planned to read at midnight but kept dozing off, try moving your reading time to an earlier hour. Small adjustments like these can make a big difference.

We hope these tips help you achieve your goals! Let us know how it goes—can’t wait to celebrate your progress!
